Get started – The Knowledge Loop

Get started

Welcome to The Knowledge Loop Company. Here is how to find what you need.

This page is for anyone who is new to the library — or who wants to get more out of it. Whether you arrived looking for something specific or you are just exploring, this guide will help you navigate the site and understand how it is organised.

How the library is organised

The Knowledge Loop library is built around one principle: knowledge should be organised around the decisions people face, not the disciplines academics study.

Every document sits in one of six topic categories. Each category covers a distinct area of life — from current events to personal money to legal rights. Within each category, documents are organised by publication date with the newest at the top.

You do not need to read anything in order. Every guide stands alone. Pick the topic that matters to you right now and start there.

Find your starting point

Not everyone comes to the library for the same reason. Here is a map by the type of person you are and where to begin.

You are trying to understand something in the news
Start with Current Affairs. Our guides give you the background, the context and the different perspectives without telling you what to think. Good first document: 2026 UK Local Elections Explained.
You are struggling with the cost of living
Start with Economy, then Personal Finance. The Economy section explains what is driving costs. Personal Finance gives you the practical steps. Good first document: The UK Cost of Living Crisis Explained.
You are facing a legal situation or need to know your rights
Start with Legal. Our guides explain your rights in plain English without assuming prior knowledge. Good first document: Your Rights in the UK — Domestic Abuse. Note: our Legal guides are for information only — always contact Citizens Advice or a solicitor for advice specific to your situation.
You work in a professional or leadership role
Our guides are structured for briefings — key terms up front, evidence in the middle, practical steps at the end. Every guide is available as a PDF for sharing or printing. Browse any category relevant to your sector and use the library as a briefing resource.
You support others — as a carer, adviser, community worker or volunteer
Start with Legal and Society. Our guides are written to be read aloud, shared on screen or printed. Every guide ends with a list of free organisations to contact. All advice organisations we signpost to are free.
How to use each document

Every document in the library follows the same structure. Once you know the pattern, you can move through any guide efficiently.

SectionWhat it is for
Key terms firstEvery guide opens with a plain-English glossary of the technical terms used in that document. If you already know the terminology, skip ahead. If you do not, read this section first and everything else will be clearer.
Context and evidenceThe main body explains what is happening, why it is happening, what the evidence shows and — on contested topics — what the different arguments are. Written to be read from start to finish or dipped into by section.
Practical stepsEvery guide ends with something you can do. A step to take, a number to call, a right to exercise, a resource to access. Knowledge without action is just information.
Download the PDFEvery guide is available as a PDF in the same house design. You can download, print or share any guide freely.
